Who am I?
Hello my name is Leena Savolainen
I am a therapist because I value relationships. Relationships are part to our everyday lives whether it’s with an intimate partner, family, friends, colleagues or with ourselves.
After struggling alone, I discovered that gestalt therapy provided a powerful pathway to transform my tired and painful habits of relating. This self-awareness has rippled out to all my relationships, where I am now better able to respond to life rather than react to it. To change old habits of relating takes a relationship and a compassionate therapeutic relationship can be a game changer.
As a therapist, I see myself as a guide to support you unearth a deeper connection to yourself so you can face life’s challenges with authenticity, spontaneity, and clarity. I work with people who are curious to explore the blocks in their lives and seek to find balance in the inevitable challenging arena of life and relationships.
I have worked as a group therapist at Australia’s leading treatment centre for addictions, trauma and mental health issues. I believe group therapy provides a potent opportunity for transformation. Group is more than a place for individual healing; it’s a space where people learn to listen deeply, speak honestly, and hold differences with compassion. In a time when division often feels overwhelming in our world, this kind of connection is revolutionary. When we come together across experiences, backgrounds and beliefs, we create something powerful: a model of how society can work—built on empathy, respect, and shared humanity.
I have a background in communication, counselling and education. I have over 15 years of experience working with families in a variety of contexts. I have a Master of Public Health, a Grad Dip in Counselling and Psychotherapy and Grad Dip in Gestalt Therapy. I have a growing practice in Nature Based Therapy.
Family life can be messy, but it’s something I deeply value. I’m a partner, daughter, sister, and mum to four kids—and two slightly neurotic dogs. I’m committed to ongoing growth and learning, and I understand how vulnerable this kind of work can feel. If you choose to reach out, it would be a real honour to walk alongside you.
